Asked Questions

Us with any
additional questions. We will respond via email and post them
on this site.
Q:
What is it going to cost to have my property restored?
A: Our pricing
is based on the insurance industry standard Xactimate pricing.
Since there are many variables with each water restoration job,
such as how much water, what category
water, how many rooms, etc., we cannot price jobs before examining
each job.
Q:
Can I restore my damage myself?
A: It is not
recommended to handle water damages yourself for several reasons.
Non-commercial grade drying equipment most likely will not extract
water from both the carpet and the padding. Over a short
period of time, this will lead to secondary damages such as
mold, rotting, etc., which are more costly to remediate. You also
run the risk of voiding your insurance coverage for the incident
if you do not do everything possible to properly contain the damage.
Q:
Is my damage covered by my insurance?
A: You need
to review your policy with your agent to determine if you have
proper coverage for your damage. It would be a good idea to review
your coverage ahead of time to make sure you are covered for such
tricky situations such as sump pump failures, which requires an
inexpensive insurance rider.
We begin the
mitigation process for you after a loss, which is required of
you to keep your insurance in place.
Q:
How is payment handled?
A: We direct
bill the insurance company for the costs of restoring your property.
The customer is responsible for their deductible, which is collected
on the first day the restoration begins. If you don't have coverage
for your damage, we will review the procedures and costs immediately
after the initial evaluation is conducted.
Q:
Do I have a choice of contractors to use for restoring my property?
A: Yes. The
customer always has the full authority to use whichever restoration
company they feel is qualified for the job. It doesn't cost the
insured any more or less to call their own company in. The important
factor is to make sure the damage is handled correctly the first
time.
Q:
Why should I choose an IICRC certified restoration company?
A: The importance
of having Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification
(IICRC) cannot be understated, as it assures you of trained, experienced
technicians on EVERY JOB. IICRC companies cannot
send hired temporary employees to handle your restoration job
at the risk of improperly mitigating the damages.
In addition
to being certified by the industry's most widely recognized and
accepted certification program, all of Stanley Steemer's technicians
attend IICRC accredited continuing education and training programs
several times a year. All IICRC company's invest a significant
amount of time and money in training and equipment to ensure they
perform the highest standards of work.
